Another shot of one of the coal power plants in the largely Serbian and Roma enclave of Plemetina.

A jolly good time at my Roma friend Avni's house (with his beautiful daughter in my lap).

Avni as Count Roma-ula and me as His Eggcellency

A typical get together with Roma (singing songs with improv comedy).

One more view of the power plants in Plemetina (as seen from my friend Driton's house).

An old mosque next to the river in Prizren, Kosovo.

An old Serbian monastery above the city of Prizren, Kosovo.

Another old mosque in Prizren.

This is Daria, a delightful young Romanian girl whom I helped with English during my 3 months. What a sweety who loved to jabber to me in Romanian when she got tired of English and wanted to get away with saying things I couldn't understand. Then I'd just speak Arabic to her and she grin and say "Ok I speak English."

We had some good times!

The most recent Hog converts - the film crew I shared office space with and a jubilant group of personalities.

A visit to my Roma friend Driton's house with his family (with his lovely daughter in my arms).

Thanksgiving dinner at the Balkan Sunflower house.
A shot of the magnificent buildings in Skopje, Macedonia.

Alexander the Great in Skopje.

Skopje is full of new old-style architecture and statues of ancient Greek heroes.

Skopje, Macedonia.

The exquisitely peaceful and beautiful Rila Monastery in Bulgaria.

Ohrid on the UNESCO heritage site of Lake Ohrid, Macedonia.

Neat old train station in the country in Bulgaria.

Cute little square in a small town in Bulgaria.

I love the colors and the old architecture. Plus these buildings are just right off the main road, so typical in many European cities.

Renovated, historic houses that played key roles in the national revival movement in Bulgaria.

Fruit trees in front of another Monastery. So pristine.

Prison and fort separated by a river. Veliko Tarnovo.

Shot of my dad and me. We traveled through Kosovo, Macedonia, and Bulgaria together for about 10 days and this was departure day for me (headed to Bosnia to visit a friend for a few days before coming home).
